Skateboard decks like death skateboards are usually made up of 7-ply maple plank that are anywhere from 7-10 ” inches wide. Wide planks are used for trick-skating; at the same time skateboards in the 7-8 ” inch varieties are used for street-skating. Decks by and large have “grip tape” on the top of them. Skateboarding this tape adheres to the top of the deck, while the surface gives a sandpaper material, which helps the individual “grip” the board. Wheel hardness is measured in the durometer a scale, from 75a to 99a. You may see skateboards marked 100a or higher, but don’t be fooled ” the A scale only goes up to 99.
